Can Make a Difference

The Kiwanis club of Escondido has flourished throughout it's 85 year existance because uncounted men (until 1986) and women (since 1986) have been up to the challenge of making this a better community for children and their families.

In 1926 this club founded the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside, followed by the club of Fallbrook. We have since nurtured and chartered some 24 Kiwanis Clubs.  These efforts have geometrically benefitted the respective communities of each club.

In 1945, members Harry Carrol and Homer Heller (Homer Heller Ford) spearheaded the major project of building the Palomar Hospital, including raising enough money to qualify for matching government funding.

the Kiwanis club of Escondido, through innumerable service projects has made the Escondido community a better place and helped our children grow and become better citizens and leaders.  Our scholarship foundation has awarded more than 76 scholarships to our High School Key Club members.  We have provided comfort to our senior citizens in need as well as mentoring the members of our Sponsored Leadership Programs (see Sponsored Leadership Program {SLP} in this website).  In times of national disasters such as the Katrina hurricane, we provided assistance as far away as Wiggens, Ms.

OUR MISSION

THE MISSION OF THE KIWANIS CLUB OF ESCONDIDO IS TO PROVIDE QUALITY COMMUNITY SERVICE THROUGH THE PARTICIPATION OF OUR MEMBERS, THE EDUCATION OF OUR CHILDREN, AND THE SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY, ESTABLISHING OURSELVES AS THE PREMIERE SERVICE ORGANIZATION IN THE COMMUNITY.
